Critics call Marcelo Alvarez
“the fourth tenor after Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras”. He has won international acclaim thanks to his beautiful voice, attractive appearance and scenic charm.
Alvarez is one of the most sought-after singers appearing in the world’s major opera houses and concert halls, including La Fenice, La Scala, the Royal Opera House, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Paris Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera. Not only is he a great operatic tenor, but a brilliant performer of Latin American tangos. In 1999 he acted in the documentary Marcelo Alvarez: In Search of Gardel and recorded an album dedicated to Carlos Gardel, the legendary performer of Latin American tangos.
The TANGO ALVAREZ concert is comprised of Latin American tangos accompanied by the Tango Spleen orchestra, founded by the Argentine pianist Mariano Speranza.
The internationally acclaimed orchestra of young Italian and Argentine musicians has successfully toured in Norway, France, Germany, Slovenia and South Korea.
