On March 4 new debuts are to take place in La traviata. Nurlan Bekmukhambetov will appear as Alfredo, Alexander Martynov as Giorgio Germont, Ksenia Volkova as Flora and Yaroslav Abaimov as Gastone.

On March 16, the Novaya Opera will present the first Russian performance of Ibert’s Persée et Andromède; it will be preceded by Puccini’s Il tabarro.

On March 17 conductor Evgeny Samoilov will make his debut in Glinka's Ruslan and Lyudmila

Today is 66th Anniversary of Maestro's Birth

The Novaya Opera’s Art Director Victor Gerasimenko has been awarded the 2011 Moscow City Prize in art and literature in the Fine Arts nomination for his highly artistic design of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta.

Among the other prize-winners are Pyotr Fomenko, Artistic Director of Fomenko’s Workshop theatre, Alexander Krupenin, Artistic Director of the Moscow Shadows Theatre for Children, Victor Vanslov, Director of the Research Institute for Fine Arts Theory and History of the Russian Arts Academy, and many other famous people.

On April 16, 2011, Maestro Jan Latham-Koenig was appointed Chief Conductor of the Novaya Opera. The collaboration of the Novaya Opera and the conductor started in 2008 with the triumphal production of Wagner’s Lohengrin, after which he became the theatre’s permanent guest conductor.
